● Explicitly teach the name, sound, and formation of each letter in the alphabet
● Provide support in applying explicitly taught letters to reading and writing

Lesson Scaffolds: There are 5 strategic scaffolds to support teachers in meeting the needs of students and matching the appropriate level of support. The evidence-based scaffolds for both reading and spelling move from the highest level of support in .1 to the least amount of scaffolding in .5. Detailed teacher support for all phonics scaffolds can be found in the FLITE Resource Library.
In addition, word lists, sentences, and decodable passages are provided to support both accuracy and automaticity practice.
